During the week of Oct 27-31 students worked on their first inquiry. Building on the "Know Me As" group project (which focused on building community), this inquiry served to give students additional practice with the challenges of working and learning in a group.
They are expected to grow in their ability to:
For this particular inquiry, Division 14 is answering questions around the use of space and furniture in our learning space, Division 15 is answering questions about air quality and plants, and Division 16 is answering questions related to amount of windows used in our learning space and the pros/cons of having so much glass.
Each class formed six teams who were responsible for finding answers to their questions and presenting their findings to the other two divisions. On Monday Nov 3 students had 80 minutes in the morning to polish their presentations. In the afternoon six large groups formed (each group had a representative team from each division). Spread throughout our learning communities, the teams in each group took 15 minutes to present.
They are expected to grow in their ability to:
- communicate with team members
- organize and allocate tasks within the team
- honour their commitments to their team members
